Missionary Profiles
Vision and Mission

In 1989, Abner Dizon, then a 3rd year religion major, went out as a student missionary under the supervision of Adventist Frontier Missions missionary, Marc Scalzi. While serving for almost 2 years, Abner felt impressed about the great need for Filipinos to take on the challenge of reaching the unreached cultural groups in the Philippines .

When he returned to Philippine Union College in 1991, he sought to encourage students to commit to become missionaries to the unreached. That year, more than 70 college students signed a manifesto indicating their commitment to become missionaries as soon as they graduate. However, for that to materialize, Abner realized that two things were lacking: a sending agency and a training program.

In 1992, when Marc Scalzi was ready to return to the United States at the end of his term, Abner asked him to help organize a frontier mission sending organization. He wanted to be the first Filipino to be sent overseas by that mission agency. But Marc reminded him that if he was going to be involved in organizing that agency, he may have to stay in the headquarters instead.

In 1993, the organization was registered as Philippine Frontier Missions, Inc. It was headed by Dr. Archie Tupas (Chairman), Pastor Ray Transporte (President), Abner Dizon (Executive Secretary), Yolanda Dizon (Treasurer), Abel Esmillo (Auditor) with members: Manny Reyes, Marc Scalzi, Zorobabel Zuniga and Mars Sigue.

That same year, PFM launched its first mission project among the Dumagats in Bulacan. The following year, two other projects were launched (Tagbanua in Palawan and Aeta in Zambales).

Today, PFM serves 10 cultural groups, namely: Dumagat, Aeta, Tagbanua, Kankanaey, Kalanguya, Salegseg Kalinga, Molbog, Samal, Buhid Mangyan and West Palawano .
